Dearest Reader,

Pleasure to see you on my page. Wish I could get to know you as well as you will get to know me. Let me explain a little bit of my life to you. I am a 15 year old sophomore at Arapahoe Highschool. I believe in miracles and love at first sight. I strive for simplicity and I like to think I have a guardian angel. I have always believed in the power of love and the power of people. I love this world and the people of it. There are so many different cultures, so many different people to know, to meet, to talk to, to laugh with, to befriend, and to love. I care very much for my friends and family, and I'd probably risk my own life for them. My passions in life are interior design, perhaps art, and music.

I love to take walks on the beach, feel the sun heat up my face, and listen to music as I sit on my roof. Music is the foundation behind my smile, it determines my mood, love, and spirit. I hear music all the time, throughout the entire world. I see music everywhere in life. Music is not something that can be contained. The colors, the variety, the love, the heart of it all. It goes straight down to the center of my soul, and frees my spirit. That's what music is. It isn't just words on a page, it isn't just sounds in your ears. It's beautiful and exquisite fire that burns eternally from the heavens. That's why it is the foundation of my life. Because I am forever looking for beauty, I always feel the music. I have it inside of me, and I say it in my words. It's life...spilling your entire heart and soul into a single pure melody of love.

Read this story and tell me it doesn't affect you: One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart. Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces missing. The people stared. How can he say his heart is more beautiful?? they thought. The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears." "Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?" The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, because the old man's love flowed through him. They embraced and walked away, side by side.

I had a hard time choosing my personal philosophy statement because, I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out which one to pick. There are so many great people out there who believe in the most amazing ideas, it was hard to choose only one. But the one I chose, by Thoreau, really does explain me, my entire being thrives upon it. The very idea of being a light to the world, as well as lighting the fire behind a person's passion: that, to me, sounds beautiful. And it's so true. Love is a flame, it is a passion, and it is lovely. But it's also dangerous. It can quickly become compromised with lust. It can be broken. It can be forbidden. So, if love is to succeed, it must be a light as well. A light to those who need it the most. Love can give a human being the passion to live as if every second were to be their last. Love can bring a light to people who have only known the dark. Love has no boundaries: it is so unexplainable, neither science, nor government, nor society can tell you a true definition. You have to experience it for yourself. It fills your spirit and brings life to your soul that wasn't originally there.

Love. The forbidden entity of a society driven world.
